New York, NY, December 2019 — Henrybuilt will present Christopher Makos + Paul Solberg: STUDIOVISIT at the Henrybuilt showroom in Soho from December 6, 2019 through March 31, 2020.

The survey exhibition will feature more than 40 works by Makos and Solberg, as well as their joint personae, The Hilton Brothers—a conception inspired by the 1930s vaudeville stars, The Hilton Sisters. On view will be a range of photographs—from Makos’s depictions of his friend Andy Warhol, including a famed shot of the late artist with a camera in hand at the Centre Pompidou in 1986, titled Andy Centre Pompidou, Paris; to a collage of images of villages in Shanghai titled Hutong Gone, 2014, by The Hilton Brothers; to Solberg’s serene view overlooking a pool titled Copacabana, 2011.

Additional Information

“The subconscious intent of the show is to capture who we are and what we do in our studio and bring it here, to recreate a salon of sorts,” said Solberg of the presentation’s inspiration. “Chris and Paul have an infectious spirit of creativity—visiting their studio is a singular encounter, and we wanted to share that experience with a wider audience,” said Henrybuilt founder and creative director, Scott Hudson. Makos, Solberg, and Hudson have discovered, within their contrasting disciplines, a oneness and shared philosophy that forms the bedrock of their work.
