BERLIN & I

But Makos hasn’t come to Berlin to talk about the past. He is here to open up his latest exhibition, a joint project with artist colleague Paul Solberg: from the 19th of October, the galerie hiltawsky will be presenting the works of these two New York photographers under the title ’Andy Dandy and Other works’. Together they are the artist duo The Hilton Brothers. Whilst the bulk of the exhibition is dedicated to the ‘Andy Dandy’ series, an extravagant diptych of Makos’ “Altered Image” portraits of Warhol and Solberg’s flower portraits, there is also space for around 30 photographs offering an insight into three artistic identities: Makos, Solberg and the Hilton Brothers.

Alongside his work with Warhol, Christopher Makos is also well known for his portraits of 20th century icons. The Berlin exhibition will present Makos’ portraits of such international stars as Mick Jagger, Nicola Formichetti and Jean Michel Basquiat. Paul Solberg earned his first stripes with the book “Bloom” (2005). Since then he has published a diverse selection of other works and has been honoured in various exhibitions across America and Europe. Solberg and Makos aka. The Hilton Brothers have been working together since 2004. The artists invite you to join them on the 18th of October, from 6 to 8pm, for their exhibition opening at the galerie hiltawsky.

Oktober Werke der New Yorker Fotografen.

Gehen Sie hin!
